This issue pertains to an instance where a user may experience an “Unrecognized Database Format” error message when attempting to login to their database via the Document Control System 2 application.

We have found that this issue occurs when a user accidentally opens their database file in Microsoft Access instead of the Document Control System 2 application. When a Document Control System 2 database file is opened in Microsoft Access, Access may attempt to convert it to a later database format, other than what is currently accepted by the Document Control System 2. By default, Document Control System 2 uses Microsoft Access 97 format database files. Microsoft Access may attempt to convert the database file to “Access 2000” format, or later, automatically.

If you believe you may have experienced this issue, please reach out to Technical Support at 407-382-8750 between the hours of 9AM – 6PM Monday through Friday. You may also submit an email based support request via the following link:

We will require you to provide us with a copy of your database file (the “.mdb” file Document Control System 2 uses to store your data) where we will convert it back to its proper Access 97 format and return it to you.
