Promoting risk

Promoting Risk And Deteriorating Safety Through Deadlines.

Each company goes through the process of pressure to maintain a schedule. Different types of stress could be imposed on individuals at the workplace through people, equipment, and the work environment. Pressure seems to increase as deadlines get closer and work needs to be completed.

For places such as construction sites, stress that is generated under the pressure of a schedule is known to be a common aspect faced by employees. Working with major projects with a high-impact on the potential effect on safety issues a greater amount of stress in the workplace.

A study was conducted and revealed that the effects of scheduled pressure on safety aren’t something that’s considered as much as it’s supposed to. Scheduled pressure, however, has been addressed a few times stating that it could lead to an unacknowledged accretion of the possibility of increased risk.

Multiple different factors have an impact on pressures of production and the ability to ensure safety performance. Findings suggested that the following were included:

  • Actions through managerial performance should be utilized by companies to focus on introducing training to ensure safety, increase awareness of risks, and reduce unsafe behavior that may lead to a significant decrease in accidents.
  • Ensuring quality performance could lead to a significant delay in scheduled activities. This, in turn, could lead to pressure for production and may promote errors and the necessity to rework.
  • An increase in workload could cause employees to become fatigued. This could cause an increase in rework which would require more overtime to avoid delays. Additionally, a higher turnover rate between employees could lead to accidents.
  • The number of supervisors to oversee employees and the number of employees itself could have an impact on safety performance.
  • The perception in which employees feel safe is what contributes to employee safety participation and could have a great impact on compliance and increased productivity.

Through thorough examination and research, it can be stated that managing the ability to provide employees with scheduled delays and the ability to manage rework time employees can assure an increase in safety management in operations.
Through the efficiency of establishing proper safety and risk management, increased productivity is one of the ultimate goals of every organization. For this to be established, the head of an organization constantly contemplates the ways in which the benefit can be for the company. For this reason, companies have devised an automated Quality Management System. This system was designed for the use of companies to identify standardized procedures and establish a method to automate those procedures. Through the use of a QMS, companies can increase organizational efficiency.
